Flotilla Aérea (“we”, “us”) is a non-commercial website about the history of military and civil aviation in El Salvador. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit flotilla-aerea.com, our forum at foro.flotilla-aerea.com, or our social media pages, and how we use it.
Information we collect
Website visitors
- Server logs. Like most websites, our web server automatically records the IP address, date and time, and page requested for each visit. We use these logs only for security (for example, blocking malicious traffic) and to understand overall traffic.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure how many people visit and which articles they read. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device type. IP anonymization is enabled. Google’s use of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- The website does not offer accounts, comments, or contact forms, so we do not collect names, email addresses, or other personal information from website visitors.
Forum members
If you have an account on our forum, we store the username, email address, and password (encrypted) you provided, plus the posts, messages, and images you publish. This information is used only to operate the forum and is never sold.
Social media and our Facebook app
We publish content, such as short videos (Reels), on our Facebook Page. To do this we use a Facebook app called “Flotilla Aerea Reels”. The app is used only by the Flotilla Aérea administrators to publish our own content to our own Page. It does not collect, store, or process any personal data from Facebook users, and nobody logs in to it except our administrators. Your interactions with our Facebook Page (likes, comments, shares) are handled by Meta under the Meta Privacy Policy.
How we use and share information
We use the information above only to run, secure, and improve Flotilla Aérea. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not show advertising. The only third parties that handle data on our behalf are our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services), Google (analytics), and Meta (for content we publish on Facebook). We may disclose information if required by law.
Cookies
The website uses cookies only for Google Analytics. The forum uses cookies needed to keep you signed in. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the website will still work.
Data retention
Server logs and analytics data are kept only as long as needed for security and traffic analysis. Forum account data is kept while the account exists and is deleted on request.
Your rights and data deletion
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you, including your forum account. Our Facebook app stores no user data, so there is nothing to delete there. To remove data associated with apps you use on Facebook, go to your Facebook Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites. For any other request, email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Flotilla Aérea is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
